Douglas Stewart, former manager of the University Bookstore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, established a distribution company in 1950 to help college bookstores obtain products to meet the unique needs of faculty, administrators, and students. Since its inception, The Douglas Stewart Company has been a leader in introducing technology to the education market and providing value-added services to resellers. We were the first distributor to offer electronic calculators to college bookstores, and created the first academically-priced software distribution program for college stores and academic resellers.
Today, The Douglas Stewart Company serves more than 2,500 college bookstores, academic computing centers, and value-added resellers (VARs). During 2005, our operations expanded on a global scale. The grand opening of our Canadian warehouse furthered our commitment to providing exceptional service throughout North America. With the launch of our UK subsidiary, Douglas Stewart EDU, the same level of distribution and marketing services has been introduced to resellers in Europe.
